What does it take to be a Thescorre champion?
First, the entrants must be residents of Thescorre. However, they do **not** need to be paying members of the SCA.
Second, they should be ready to support/represent the barony and their chosen activity in a courteous and positive manner. In other words: have fun, play nice. <smile>
Third, they will be expected to attend the baron & baroness in court at events in Thescorre, specifically walking in processions and/or guarding during court (as their health and scheduling allows).
They are **not** expected or required to attend us at out-of-area events (such as Twelfth Night, Coronation, Crown, Pennsic, etc.), but are welcome to join us if they are present and wish to do so.
Fourth, they should reasonably expect to attend and represent Thescorre at the 7 Pearls tournament for their category. If they cannot attend the tournament for any reason, they should recommend a proxy champion to us, please, so that we can attend those tournaments and cheer on them or their proxies. The annual 7 Pearls tournaments occur:
A&S: Endless Hills, Melee Madness, June Archery: Delftwood, Shoote in the Wildwood, April Bardic: Pennsic, August (Blackstone Mountain hosts) Fencing: St. Swithin's Bog, Three-Day, July Heavy weapons: AEthelmearc War Practice, May (Debatable Lands hosts) Thrown weapons: Thescorre, Pax, July (It was at the Hael's Summer's End this year; moving back to Thescorre in 2007)
[There is no 7 Pearls youth championship at this time.]
Fifth, they are expected to run or help run the next Thescorre championship tournament for their category.
We encourage and welcome all gentles at the event to participate in the different activities, regardless of whether they wish to compete for a championship. If you do not wish to be considered for a championship, please simply tell the champion/marshal of that tournament not to include your scores.
