Myrkfaelinn Summer War Practice
June 15 - 17, 2007
Dominion of Myrkfaelinn
Ithaca NY
Those who are able to attend the AEthelmearc 10th Year Celebration should most certainly do so. To those for whom the journey proves prohibitive, the Dominion of Myrkfaelinn extends an invitation to join us at our annual Summer War Practice, to be held June 15-17, 2007 at 4-H Acres, just off NYS Rt 13 north of Ithaca, NY. As in years past, the focus of the day will be on armored melee tactics in preparation for the approaching Pennsic War. Other activities are still being scheduled at press time, contact the autocrat for updates.
The site will open at 6PM on Friday, June 15 and close at 12 noon on Sunday, June 17. 4-H Acres is a wet site, and well-behaved and currently vaccinated pets are welcome (but please remember to clean up after them!). Space for tent camping is available, but campfires are permitted only in raised containers such that the grass underneath is not damaged. The site fee will be $10 for adults (half price for children ages 6-17, no fee for children 5 years and younger) and includes a sideboard. There is no extra charge for camping. There will be NO feast this year; instead, we will provide fire for an outboard communal cook-out. |

Angel’s Keep Fund Raiser
June 23rd
Auburn NY
This is to remind everyone about this
upcoming event. We've been approached about rounding up drummers and
dancers to help provide entertainment. Hopefully others will be able
to attend. It's a worthy cause, and we hope Thescorre will be
able to make a good showing in support of their efforts. Ed.
Good Gentles All,
Several members of the Canton of Angels Keep are helping to organizing a Medieval Times style dinner to benefit the son of one of our newer Canton members and we need your help in the form of helping to provide entertainment for the day! Please note: ALL proceeds from the day will go to Aaron's Fund.
Aaron Weed-Gagne is 10 years old and lives in Auburn, NY. He has been diagnosed with Final Stage Renal Failure and is in dire need of a kidney transplant. He is undergoing daily home dialysis treatments and is being treated at University Hospital in Syracuse.
He and his father, Joel, ska Corbin, share a love of the medieval and renaissance periods. Corbin found our Canton a few months ago and was quick to become a paid member of the Society and is working towards his first fencing authorization. To that end, we chose the "Medieval Times" theme for the benefit. All monies collected will be deposited into a fund to help defray medical and transportation costs for Aaron.
We would like to have an ongoing SCA demo for the duration of the benefit to include both heavy weapons and rapier fighting so we'll need marshals as well as fighters. Winners of the Tourneys will be named Aaron's Champions for the day. We welcome those who would like to attend and demonstrate the gentler arts as well. Plans include a feast-like buffet style dinner that will be served throughout the day and we hope to have bards, dancers and story-tellers willing to entertain the diners. We ask that you bring your banners and as much color and pageantry as you are able to lend to the atmosphere we're trying to create for Aaron. If you wish to partake of the meal offered at the fundraiser (provided by Dinosaur BBQ), seats for the meal will cost $10 for anyone helping with the demo ($20 to the general public). If you are a merchant and would be willing to donate something to be used as a door prize, that would be welcomed as well and a receipt will be provided to you for tax purposes. |
