Recognition.
Etymology: Middle English recognicion, from Anglo-French recognition, from Latin recognition-, recognitio, from recognoscere.
Definition: Special notice or attention, a mark of acknowledgment or expression of praise.
Recognition is what we request to be conferred when we see someone doing things well and often, especially when it helps others and heightens their enjoyment of our Society. It’s commonly held that accolades in our Society are recognized, not given or earned.
Eric and I have finally exhausted the wonderfully long list (from our last pollings) of gentles our baronial orders agreed should be recognized for their good works in ever-industrious Thescorre.
Therefore, we seek new recommendations for induction to the Orders of the Black Talon, the Broche, and the Raven’s Feather so that our orders may vote and our scribes may have sufficient time to create lovely scrolls for us to award at College of Three Ravens.
So, please write us an email (or letter) and tell us who you would like to be next considered for induction by our orders. Recommendations for all three orders are welcome. You do not have to be a member of a given order to recommend someone for it, nor is membership in the Society a requirement. Please include an explanation of why you think the gentle should be considered. We thank you in advance for your recommendations and we thank our orders in advance for their counsel… and our scribes for spending hours making memories for others!
Harvest Raid had surprisingly mild and beautiful weather last weekend, and many Thescorreans enjoyed the various activities both outside and inside – the archery range was especially fun. The event was Caiden’s first one, and Daddy Caradawc commented afterward that the baby spent more time *out* of his parents’ arms than he spent in them…
Vivat to former Thescorrean Marguerite on her induction into the Sycamore (for her skill in sewing and her research on Roman culture)!
It should be noted that a large number of our barony did not attend the event and instead spent the weekend baking cheesecakes and loaves of bread for the upcoming day-long sideboard for Crown Tourney. Yes, they gave up playing at an event on a day with great weather to ensure that gentles attending an event in our barony next weekend have great food. Vivant to Dubheasa, Bryn, Fauna, Alex, Connor, Dehka, Ruaridri, Eldjarn, Phillipe, and Jamie!
In other celebration news: Congratulations to Kadlin & Sigvaldi on expecting their second child! Congratulations to Fridrikr & Orianna on celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary! Vivant! Vivant! Vivant!
