Tales of Pennsic
Sharing stories of Pennsic.

A Thescorrean’s First (and last?) Pennsic
By Lord Lionheart

This year’s war week at Pennsic was quite intriguing for a first timer, not to mention extremely wet. All the time’s I have heard people talking about Pennsic in the past, it was mentioned that you could expect one good rain storm and then it would be decent weather after that. Unfortunately, it was more than just one day. It stormed on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Luckily it wasn’t all day, but enough of a day to ruin much of a chance to do much exploring. Because after the rain, the heat would rise and evaporate the water in the ground making it extremely muggy.

But even if the thunder and lightning did postpone a few battles, the Mid-realm with Aethelmearc and other allies were victorious in war. With all the celebrations incumbent on a victory.

Which leads me to another point; Pennsic has been described as a giant party once the sun goes down. And to some extent I saw this, I even attended a couple. But not being the party type person, I really didn’t enjoy them all that much. Especially the Aethelmearc party. The level of disappointment I had for that party could not be measured. I had a few bad incidents at it, and left early.

One of the best evenings I had, was on the last night there, I was alone watching over the camp’s fire, just sitting and looking up at the stars. But to those that haven’t been to Pennsic yet, don’t let my bad experience deter you from making plans to attend next year. I still may, I just want to have a couple months to wash the bad taste out of my mouth.

A Proud Mom

Talia shoots to winImagine you are at the top of the hill, overlooking all of Pennsic. You turn around to the archery field and there is my beautiful daughter Talia with Countess Caryl. Talia is representing her in the Known World Rose Youth Archery Competition. There are several other children in her age group and she's very nervous, but she also has the largest cheering team.

At each section Talia makes a score, taking the lead at the Clout. She blew away the competition there and ensured her place in first.

When the final tallies were made, there was no surprise when Talia was announced as the first place winner in her age group. A loud cheer erupted from her team. What a proud and wonderful moment!

I have to say that this was the best day of Pennsic, and the proudest moment for me as a Mom!
