Kingdom Twelfth Night
January 12, 2008
Barony of Endless Hills
We invite all good gentles to join in the merriment and cheer at the Æthelmearc Kingdom Twelfth Night celebration on Saturday, January 12, 2008 in the Barony of Endless Hills. The event will be held at Saint Rose Academy, 1300 Old Plank Road, Mayfield, PA, 18407.
We have procured a marvelous hall for feasting, meetings, courts and dancing! Bring your best garb and revel in our sun-filled atrium! The hall opens at 9 am and closes at 9:30 pm. This is a discretely damp site (period containers please), and enclosed flame is allowed. The site is fully handicapped accessible and there is adequate parking for all vehicles. A bounteous lunch is included with the site fee.
The day will be filled with dancing (instruction included!), a period games tournament with prizes – and of course, meetings! There will be children’s activities for the younger populace and A&S contests for best late period (post-1500) garb, best accessory and best festive holiday tart (to be crowned the Queen of Tarts!), all with fabulous prizes! At Her Majesty’s gracious request, there will also be a contest for best hat, for which She is personally providing the prize.
Their Majesties will be choosing their Bardic champion at this event, so come prepared to sing, regale us with tales, and otherwise entertain.
A fabulous Italian Feast will finish the day – followed by much dancing and revelry! |

St. Swithin's Bog 12th Night
January 19, 2008
Barony of St. Swithin's Bog
It has been our tradition for good friends to gather in the dead of winter at our neighborhood castle and reminisce on the past year and plan (plot) for the coming new year. This year we invite you to celebrate with us at an elegant evening of food, court intrigue and libations at Shakespeare’s Pub in the Olde Stonewall Castle, 1495 Mercer Road, Ellwood City Pa 16117 (724)752-4653. We will meet on Friday Night January 25, 2008 at 7:00pm, with dinner beginning at 7:30pm. The restaurant will be providing a gourmet 2 course buffet and desert. The only requirement is show up in your party garb and be waited on in fine style. There will be a cash bar until 12:00pm.
It is our habit in Steltonwald to have a silly gift exchange. This should be an item in the $10 -$20 price range. We have a fun twist to the gift exchange and it is a lot of laughs. You will want to bring a wrapped gift so you can enjoy the fun. The cost for this buffet is $40.00 per adult. (Inclusive of tax and gratuities) Put on your finest garb and join us as we toast the New Year with our friends and enjoy the blessings of our lives. Please reserve and pay BEFORE January 21, 2007. Make checks payable to “SCA Inc –Steltonwald”. YOU CANNOT ATTEND WITHOUT A RESERVATION. |

January 25, 2008
Canton of Steltonwald
We now invite you to something completely different . . . an Oriental 12th Night! The event will take place at our traditional site, Green Gables in Jennerstown, PA (no street address). Doors open at 10:00 a.m. and close at 9:00 p.m. Lots of different things this year! Gentles are encouraged (but not required) to dress in pre-1600 Asian garb and to participate in our Oriental Garb Show. (No documentation required. One 3x5 card only, if you desire.) We will also be having a chopstick using contest, so start practicing now! Contest prizes will be direct from the Orient!
There will be two separate auctions—a Voice Auction of select items, the majority of which will be hand-made by Barony members. And a Silent Auction of desirable items for you to peruse. Our Baron and Baroness will be holding an open bardic competition for all to enter, so tune up your instruments and prepare your songs, soliloquies and skits! (Bardic entries do not need to be Asian themed).
This event will also be the venue for the selection of the next Kingdom A&S Champion! Please see Their Majesties’ announcement in the January AEstel for information
Plus, the Barony will once again be hosting a SCROLL BLANK CONTEST, also with prizes which will include: 1) Most Accurate Reproduction (to qualify, you must bring a picture of the source of your scroll); 2) Most Unusual or Unique Scroll; 3) Most Scrolls Entered; and 4) For every scroll you donate to the Barony during this contest, your name will be put into a raffle and the winner will receive a Grand Prize of real gold leaf. The use of AEthelmearc Kingdom standards for scroll materials is required—check http://www.aethelmearc-scribes.org/supplies.html for specifics. Please list your contact information in pencil on the back of each scroll entered. This is a chance for you to shine! Questions? Contact Mistress Cynthia. (Scroll blank entries do not need to be Asian themed.)
As always, we will offer our all-day sideboard to all attendees. |
