Industrious Thescorreans are everywhere…
While wandering through the rooms at Feast of Seven Deadly Sins, I discovered members of our Barony dancing in the fencing list and sitting smack-dab in the center of the bardic/drumming circle, while several others retained for His Highness.
Two weeks later at the Stormsport winter event, I watched Thescorrean after Thescorrean members serving a shift as retainer for Their Highnesses, and then several helped clean up the hall after the event.
And just this past weekend at Ice Dragon, Thescorreans were baking all day in the Tavern, manning the heraldry table, marshalling tournaments, and running and judging the Pent. Not to mention once again drumming for the enjoyment of all in the merchants’ area and retaining.
From quiet behind-the-scenes help to weekly marshalling service to big kingdom jobs like chronicler and herald… Thescorre just never sits idle! :)
College of Three Ravens was truly wonderful: excellent classes bracketed by a luscious lunch and a delicious dinner. Vivant to Katrina & Collette and all those who helped them feed us so well!
We had many skilled, returning teachers -- Fridrikr, Daedez, Sadira, Pleasance, Brianna, Eldjarn, Bryn, GK, Dehka, and Yasmina – as well as a first-timer, Bronwyn.
We were entranced by the graceful dance of Raven Raqs Beladi (Dehka, Maired, and Fauna) to the stirring sound of our baronial drummers (Juliana, Dubheasa, and Eldjarn).
A highlight of the day was experiencing RavenSong’s ethereal voices (Eilionóra, Yasmina, Kadlin, Eric, Orianna, Otelia, Bryn, and Fridrikr) float through the Sanctuary – and many thanks to Cedric for capturing it for YouTube!
Vivant to Otelia and Timothy for their long-deserved inductions into the Orders of the Broche and the Black Talon, respectively! Our appreciation also to Timothy for supporting thrown weapons for so many years, and as well to Athos for taking up the duty.
Our thanks to those ever-patient and helpful gentles who retained during Court and/or helped us set up & break down Thescorre’s regalia: Decimus, Cadecia, Fauna, Dave, Eldjarn, Katie, Phillipe, Vettius, Dehka, and Ye Jian… not to mention Caradawc, the hardworking autocrat and never-fail, all-around, non-stop “what can I do to help” guy. Thanks also go to Orianna and Alison for setting such an impressive high table – especially to Alison and Timothy for gracing the table with new napkins and gorgeous glass lamps.
Our deep gratitude to three gentles: to Pleasance, for serving us so well as herald for the past year, to Yasmina, for pinch-hitting as herald so ably for this event, and to Fridrikr, for willingly taking over the baronial office. We consider Thescorre extremely lucky and blessed to have one of the most experienced heralds in the kingdom as our Pursuivant –although we wonder if the Courts are going to start having a lot more puns…
Ice Dragon was… an adventure, personally (our wagon broke down en route on the highway, and we are deeply grateful to Eldjarn for helping us ensure a scroll was delivered for Court), although it ended up being quite enjoyable. Few things can compare with the pure joy and fun of watching a smile break over a child’s face as she is applauded in Court. Vivat to Talia, newest member of the Silver Alce, and congratulations on her first accolade!
We were also immensely happy to see two of the hardest-working gentles we’ve ever met, Peregrine and Alison, be welcomed into the Order of the Millrind. Well deserved, Your Excellencies! And it was marvelously delightful to see Dehka awarded arms and properly called “Lady” for her mesmerizing dancing and ever-encouraging teaching.
Vivat to Brianna for winning the Pent!! (That tapestry was STUNNING.) Vivant to Ceilidg for winning the heraldic and youth categories and to Meadhbh for winning the performing arts/musical category! Kudos to Bronwyn and Athos for displaying two beautiful pieces in progress (embroidered silk and a wooden box).
Congratulations to Orianna and her crew for running a fabulous Pent: Fridrikr, Alison, Ingridr, Bronwyn, Timothy, Olivia, and DarkOak. We applaud those who volunteered their time to judge the Pent: Bryn, Collette, Caradawc, et. al.
Finally, we thank Decimus, Dehka, Cadecia, and Ye Jian for retaining for us through the lengthy but entertaining Court, and we thank Caradawc and Peregrine for helping us set up and take down the thrones, respectively.
As the clocks roll backwards, we look forward to warmer temperatures – and our baronial champions tournaments!
