| Two weeks ago, a dusting of snow covered the ground. As we write this today, it is 80 degrees outside. Spring has finally arrived! Time to air out the home, check the camping equipment, and plan summer projects… Coronation We joyously witnessed two Thescorreans accept the duties of the Crowns of Æthelmearc with sincerity and style. Throughout the day, we watched so many members of the barony beaming with pride, passion, and patriotism as one of our own became King & Queen. Dozens of gentles, far more than simply those serving as royal guards or retainers, wore dels in support of this Mongol reign, and Asian arts were showcased in the lovely arts display and on the delicious feast menu. Even though this was not a Thescorre event, we saw Thescorreans sitting a shift at Troll (Honnoria), helping in the kitchen (Katrina and Bryn), serving high table (Aine and Ingridr), marshalling (Vettius, Michael, Yasmina, and Eric), drumming and dancing (Dubheasa, Eldjarn, Juliana, Carlo, Dehka, Holly, and former Thescorrean Wulfstan), retaining (see list below), and even giving chirurgeonate aid (Fauna). Kudos to Yasmina and Padraig for entering the Queen’s Rapier Championship, and to Athos for entering the A&S competition. We applaud those Thescorreans who are serving this reign as guards or retainers: Athos, Beatrice, Bryn, Collette, Dominic, Dubheasa, Fridrikr, Ingridr, Kadlin, Katja, Michael, Myklos, Nezhah, Orianna, Peregrine, Roberta, Sadira, Saleem, Sigvaldi, Thomas, Vettius, and Yasmina, as well as former Thescorreans Aine, Kelde, Megge, and Olivia. Last but not least, we commend Caradawc as head retainer – an exciting but exhausting job! Vivant to Lord Ye Jian and Lady Eilionora on their well-deserved Awards of Arms, to Her Ladyship Matilda on her Sigil, and to former Thescorrean Baroness Ekaterina on her writ for elevation to the Most Noble Order of the Pelican. Finally, most importantly, vivant to Khalek Khan and Branwyn Khatun, King and Queen of glorious Æthelmearc! May our reign be a happy and healthy one. On a personal note, we thank Eilionora & Collette for retaining for us during Court, and to Fauna, Dave, and Decimus for helping us set up the baronial thrones. We look forward to supporting this reign over the next half year.
