John Charles Glenn of
6419 Cty. Hwy. 18, son of
Jack and Kathryn Siders
Glenn died September 23,
2008 following a construction
accident.
He was born February
12, 1957 in Quantico, VA
and was educated in Virginia
schools, where he was a
varsity athlete in wrestling
and football. He attended
Virginia Commonwealth
University in the Pre-Med
Program. In 1980 he moved
to Central New York and
began his employment with
Upstate Office Equipment,
where he was employed
until his death.
John was an active
member of the Society for
Creative Anachronism for
27 years, a member and Past
Master of Sanger Lodge #
129 F & AM, a member of
Alliance Lodge # 1097 F &
AM, and was an enthusiastic
volunteer for the Great
American Irish Festival.
For all his involvement
in organizations and
community, the center of his
universe were his beloved ladies, Loie
Hodge, his companion of 25 years
and Rosemary Mink, his companion of
20 years.
Their union was solemnized on
May 4, 1991 in a ceremony attended by
family and friends, and was a relationship
full of passion and romance, laughter
and love to the last.
He is survived by his ladies, Loie
and Rosemary; his brother and sister-inlaw,
Jack and Kris Glenn of Broadway,
VA; his sons John and Justin; his granddaughter,
Olivia; and his beloved
pug, Ping.
Calling hours will be held on
Saturday from 1-5 PM at the Dimbleby,
Friedel, Williams & Edmunds
Funeral Home, 365
W. Main St., West Winfield.
Sanger Lodge will conduct
a ritualistic service on
Saturday at 4:45 pm at the
funeral home. A Memorial
Service will follow at
5:00 PM with Rev. Michael
Reynolds, offi ciating. A
potluck will immediately
follow services at the Winfield Lodge, 384 W. Main
St., West Winfield. Dishes
may be dropped off anytime
between 1 and 5:00 PM.
John’s family and
friends would like to
express their appreciation
to those who tried so
valiantly to help John—the
members of the Leonardsville,
Brookfi eld and West
Winfi eld EMTs and ambulance
crews; the staff at St.
Elizabeth’s Medical Center,
particularly Dr. Soults and
the ICU nurses—Paul, Jennifer
and especially Andrea;
and the members of the
organ transplant team who
were so grateful for John’s
bequest and made his death
into a gift of life. And to our household
and friends who helped us these past
days, our unending gratitude.
