| Of Pax and the Mathom Pax Interrupta was an emotional event for us for several reasons, not the least of which because it was the last event our dear friend The Honorable Lady Katrina attended as a Thescorrean. Many marvelous Thescorreans were lauded that day: Dom was inducted into the ORF, Sigvaldi joined the Black Talon, Bronwyn was named the new baronial A&S champ, Richard and Elzibeta received their AoAs, Vettius received a Sycamore, Olivia was inducted into the Fleur while Athos was inducted into the White Horn … and Matilda became a Pelican! However, the event was notable for something else as well: everyone present at the wonderful feast knows that we were… honored… to receive the Mathom yet again. Several of you may be wondering about (fearing?) its whereabouts? You should know, then, that upon observing several Thescorreans meandering down the hill for breakfast Sunday morning, Eric darted into a tent and kindly bequeathed the Relic of Sharing with a young couple. Immediately upon their joy at its discovery in their home (“Oh, you have GOT to be kidding me!”), the Mathom was tossed lovingly into another Thescorrean’s car. Greeting the gift with similar appreciation while packing (“I don’t THINK so!”), the Mathom passed through at least two other hands in a matter of minutes until it rested with… Torsten. Did our valiant archery champion quickly give the Mathom to another gentle? No, he stated instead that he would display it with pride upon his bar in his camp at Pennsic… which, from many sources (including himself) we’ve confirmed he, in fact, did do! Speaking of Pennsic… We would like to thank those wonderful gentles who attended us at Opening Ceremonies: Thomas, Meadhbh, Sean, Octavia, and several other Romans. We would also like to thank all the Stonies who unpacked our car and set up our thrones for Thescorre Court in Harstone Camp, and those gentles who retained for us and/or helped us set up/take down our thrones for AEthelmearc Court: Cedric, Peregrine, Artimus, Phelan, Mairead, Thomas, Eldjarn, Fridrikr, Orianna, and Meadhbh. We thank the Shire of Hartstone for its hospitality for hosting our baronial court, and Newbridge for its continuing friendship. We congratulate Cedric for his decades of archery service (and don’t do it again!). We welcome Phelan & Mairead into the ORF, and we personally gave Raven’s Eggs to them and Eldjarn, Donal, and Devon for their support of the Great Yurt-Building Project. We also thank Meadhbh for representing Thescorre again the 7 Pearls Bardic Competition. Announcement As we announced at Pennsic (and noted in the August business meeting notes), we have decided not to seek an extension of our term as baron & baroness. This was a very difficult decision that took us a long time to make, as we have been greatly honored and appreciative to serve Thescorre in this manner. However, our modern lives are demanding more of our attention, so we felt we should nto seek another term. We thank all those who have made our service possible so far, and we appreciate all those who will continue to help with what we hope to accomplish in our remaining year.
