| May 8-10 - Spring Crown Tournament - Shire of Abhainn Chiach Ghlais (Millmont PA) Many in the Kingdom are familiar with our traditional site, Boy Scout Camp Karoondinha (225 Thomas Dam Rd, Millmont PA 17845-9448). Guests may arrive any time after 5 p.m. on Friday, May 8, and must depart by 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 10th. May 14-17 - War Practice XX - Canton of Steltonwald (Slippery Rock PA) It is time once again to prepare for the prospect of War, and to properly prepare the Canton of Steltonwald would like to invite all to join us for War Practice XX. We will be mustering once again at Cooper’s Lake Campground, 205 Currie Road, Slippery Rock, PA 16057. The event will run from noon on Thursday May 14, 2009 through Sunday May 17 at 3:00 PM. Troll will close on Saturday at 3:00 PM; all participants must be registered before that time or access to the site will not be granted. The weekend will include many types of marshal activities, including Heavy Weapons, Combat Archery, Fencing Thrown Weapons, Archery and Youth fighting. May 22-24 - Thescorre Baronial Champs - Barony of Thescorre (Hemlock NY ) It is time once again to decide upon champions for their Avian Excellencies. War is approaching and our present champions have done their duties. So come join us as we hold tournaments to showcase the abilities of the populace so that their Excellencies Eric and Katja may choose new gentles to represent them in the coming year. Competitions will be held for almost all of the championship positions, including Rattan, Fencing, Archery, Thrown Weapons, Arts and Sciences, and Bardic. A lunch side-board will be provided. The Lunch cook is Lady Emily . Please direct any dietary concerns to her. Dinner will be a pot-luck with the theme of Pie. That’s right, Pie. Bring your pies to share. Sweet, savory, crusted, or crust-less. Some attempt at period pies would be appreciated, but is not required. Please include a recipe card so those who have allergies can avoid if necessary. Following dinner, there will be a Bardic circle around the campfire. Those wishing to become the new bardic champions will be given an opportunity to perform at this time, while others are welcome to participate after the new champions have been chosen. May 29-31 - Melee Madness - Barony of Endless Hills (Mehoopany PA) May 30 - Demo: Amherst Celebrates the Arts Festival - Barony of Rhydderich Hael (Amherst, New York) May 30 - Siege of Harlech Castle II - Barony-Marche of Debatable Lands (Wexford PA) All fighters and combat archers of these Sylvan Lands are called to the Barony-Marche of the Debatable Lands to besiege or defend the Castle! The year is 1409. Rebel Welsh forces under the command of Owen Glendower now hold Harlech Castle, which lies along the Western coast of Wales. If the Welsh rebellion is to be put down, the English must find a way to re-conquer this Edwardian stronghold. On May 30, 2009, heavy fighters and combat archers will once again choose sides as the English and the Welsh battle for dominance in Western Britain. In addition to a traditional heavy weapons tournament, a two-man spear tournament shall be held on the drawbridge. New this year will be rattan melee in a flat, hourglass-shaped meadow near the castle. From the parapets and windows above, combat archers will shoot at fighters below. There will be competition to see which heavy fighter can deflect the most combat arrows with great sword or katana. There will also be a formal combat archery competition. Space will be provided for the populace to watch the combat archery from the parapets or from below. |
