The Shire of Blackwater is hosting Combat Symposium III on February 20, 2010. Brace yourselves for a combat extravaganza of heavy combat and fencing that will blow your mind. Bring your sword and armor for a day of teaching and learning. Classes will be hands on and catered to the students in attendance. If you don't want to take a class, bring your armor and fight until you can't move. Fighting stops twenty minutes before site closes. Those without armor, fear not: there will be a place for hands on help building armor, hopefully with enough time to finish before Sunday's regional fight practice. There will also be an armor garage sale, so bring the extra armor you have just lying around, slap a price tag on it and see if you can get someone else to take it home!

This year's Symposium will include a siege portion (carried over to the fight practice on Sunday) in which students can become authorized to build a ballista and ammo. A separate fee does apply for this activity, or you can bring your own materials. Contact the autocrat for a list. Home Depot and Worth W. Smith/Ace Hardware are both nearby and have all the materials needed. The Symposium will also include a female fighter track, combat archery Q&A, youth combat, and -- for the first time ever -- fencing (taught by Her Grace Duchess Dorinda and Don Fergus).

The site opens on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. and closes at 7:00 p.m. The site fee for Saturday is $7.00 with a $3.00 non-member surcharge. This includes Saturday's lunch, which will be a traditional sideboard. Please make checks payable to SCA, Inc., Blackwater. If you bring a piece of garb in good repair or an extra piece of loaner gear, you will receive a discount of $3.00 at the door.

The Shire of Abhainn Ciach Ghlais is proud to invite all heralds and scribes to attend a day of intensive classes devoted entirely to the Heraldic and Scribal arts. In addition to classes, both a heraldic display and an arts and sciences display will be featured, all artisans are encouraged to bring their works (finished or in progress) and share then with the populace. We shall also be hosting heraldic consultation tables and there are sure to be heralds aplenty to assist with your name and device.

There is a $10 site fee. This includes an all-day day board. A $3 surcharge applies to anyone without proof of membership the day of the event. The site fee will be refunded for the gentle who brings the best heraldic display to the event. Make checks payable to SCA, Inc. Shire of Abhainn Ciach Ghlais. Our site for this day's event is Church of Our Savior Lutheran, 522 Grier St. Williamsport, Pa 17701. The site will open at 9am and close at 5pm. Please note that this is a dry site and we are restricted from open flames.

The Barony of Thescorre cordially invites you to a day of learning as we host our annual schola on Saturday February 27, 2010 at the Faith Lutheran Church located at 2576 Browncroft Blvd., Rochester NY 14625. Site will be open from 9:00AM to 10:00PM, with cleanup following. Classes will begin at 10:00AM running until 4:00PM.   Site is handicap accessible and has ample parking.

We are looking for a wide variety of new classes. The theme of our College this year is 'New Experiences!' If you have a class that you would like to teach, please contact the Class Coordinator, Lord Eldjarn the Thoughtful at eldjarn@thescorre.org. There will also be a pre-Ice Dragon A&S display. Bring your works in progress for viewing and comments.

The adult day fee of $7 includes a sideboard lunch (children under 18 - $3, children under 5 are free). A $3 non member surcharge will be collected at the door for adults without proof of membership. Please do not bring in alcoholic beverages for consumption.

Feast will be prepared by Lord Padraig au'Chaeleichair. Adult feast is $8 (children under 14 - $4, children under 5 free). Please direct any dietary concerns to padraig@thescorre.org. Open flames will be not permitted.
